Streaming To a Second Venue

We’ve all heard of online video conferencing and various ways to connect people all around the globe through technology. This is an amazing feat when you think it wasn’t that long ago that we lived without mobiles and computers.

Corporate conferences and other large events still have a need for people to come together in one place. Travel and venue capacity are common issues and a secondary venues may be required to accommodate everyone’s needs. This is where technology plays a vital role.

The Wonders of Technology

Technology has transformed the world, in terms of how we operate on both a business and a personal level. So it’s only right that we take advantage of it, particularly when it comes to hosting events.

If you’re hosting a large event and are worried about everyone squeezing in to one place, you may already be thinking of the possibility of hiring a second venue close by. This could be another conferencing room in the same building, or a close by facility. There are plenty of ways to keep everyone in the loop on what’s happening on the day.

For closer venues, you can connect a wired feed (audio, video or both), from one venue to the other. A video with audio feed link means you have a consistent feed from your main venue to your secondary venue. This is ideal if there are presentations or a guest speaker on the day, as this can be videoed in the main venue and streamed live via your wired feed to the secondary venue, so nobody misses out on any important information.

Get online

Alternatively, if there’s a good internet connection, it’s also possible to stream footage live via an online feed. This is a great solution if you are hosting an event that needs to be fed out to various locations which aren’t close by. In some cases; it isn’t possible for everyone to travel to one specific place, particularly if you work nationally or globally. Creating an online facility where everyone can log in and view the event is an ideal solution.

This type of streaming is highly effective to either a second venue with large TV screens where everyone can watch together, or for individuals who can watch the footage live on their computer screens from wherever they are in the world.

Having a live stream to subsidiary locations allows you to keep everyone connected at an event, with the option of live pause and rewind; just like watching television in your own home. This means that viewers can watch the footage at their own convenience, so they don’t miss anything from the day.

If you’d like to know more about live streaming to additional venues and keeping your events fully connected then please don’t hesitate to get in touch. We can talk you through the whole process and discuss your specific requirements.

Why Your Existing Camera Company Has to Start Streaming

Video companies specialising in filming events or special occasions can take advantage of adding live streaming to their service. By taking a cabled feed into our system, we can easily stream your company’s event to a much larger audience. This gives you greater access to finding new viewers. Here are a few advantages of live streaming:

Capturing a target audience with live streaming in real time

Not only do you have the opportunity to have your audience watch your video in real time; our services include streaming to your home page, Facebook page or other platform. That increases your audience reach and enables you to promote your videos to new consumers. You also have the opportunity to then distribute it as a video, another audience increase.

Streaming your videos and increasing demand

Live streaming has a high impact on demand, engagement and excitement for your audience. It makes a difference in how people interact with your brand, and can generate new interest. For example, a live streamed seminar with a real-time Q & A session helps put your audience in the spotlight, in turn encouraging direct communication and online recognition.

Your company appears innovative and relevant with streaming

Since video is one of the easiest ways to engage your audience, live streaming is the next innovative step for your business. The more progressive your company’s strategy (particularly if you’re an already-established online or video business), the more people will respond. Now more than ever, the latest technology is an integral part of a video company’s future. Streaming is the way to move forward in video.

Viral videos streamed first, live

‘Viral’ is a catchword that has gone viral. That means, sharing on Facebook, playing on Youtube and also on websites like ours. The more attention your video gets, the more viral it goes, the bigger your audience and the higher success you receive as a business. It is not just a goal to get videos viral, it’s an asset that happens when you take your videos to a more professional level.

To conclude, why you need to do live streaming as a camera or video company

If your company specializes in cameras, videos and shooting, it will definitely pay off in the coming year to invest in streaming live video. Each event could be an excellent way of getting your name out, stamping your brand and increasing your target audience. Without streaming, you risk being left behind with moving technology.

10 Top Questions to Ask Your Wedding Videographer

It’s one of the most important days in your life: your wedding. And you want to document it, to have a treasure trove of memories to look back on without flaws. A marriage movie you can watch again and again.

Most people have no idea how to go about finding that perfect wedding videographer or what to ask them. Take a look at our top 10 questions for wedding videographers to help you meet the videographer who will highlight the best of your wedding moments.

1.) What sets you apart from hundreds of other wedding videographers?

This is asking for more than a sales pitch; it involves personality and expression. If they seem as if they’re reciting their wedding videography resume from a script, or get offended, it can tell you a lot.

2.) Can you describe your style of wedding videography and what to expect?

A quite important aspect of videography is individual taste and style.

Pay attention to their description of style methods (i.e. cinematic videos are organized and edited to tell a story; a documentary style captures moments throughout the day); do they have an invasive presence; how they do lighting and sound; how many videographers; which parts of the wedding are shot; and what they prefer doing in postproduction.

It helps you to see if you are on the same page of wedding video expectation.

3.) What is included in the wedding video package and how is it delivered?

Many videographers have package deals, which might include both raw footage and the edited final copy. Delivery can be done via DVD, USB or online, depending on your preference.

4.) What are your wedding videographer qualifications?

To seed out the cousins of a friend who are ‘hobbyists,’ asking for credentials is fair for you to ask. It is your wedding and you deserve a professional to document your special day.

5.) Can you give me recommendations from other weddings?

Although they’ll probably only send you to the most positive of references, if you can, ask specific questions of the former clients. Such as “Did the videographer take requests?” or “Was the videographer intrusive or distracting?”

An insight into the person can let you get to know if they’ll film your wedding the way you need.

6.) How do you edit the wedding videos in postproduction?

There are typically 3 ways that are popular at the moment: clean, or straight shooting; documentary style; and cinematic, which uses overtly vivid colors, effects and artistic editing.

Ask about how they handle the sound and background music, which is a large component of a good video.

7.) What does your videographer’s price include?

A lot of brides are shocked at the price of professional wedding videography, but then are disappointed if they go with an amateur. To put it in perspective, professional videography prices include:

  • The highest level of professional equipment which includes external sound and lighting, and might include a second videographer (compared to a basic hand-held digital camera)
  • The latest and most innovative videography software, to ensure the end result is beautiful and captivating
  • Professional editing, which can take several weeks, depending on the length of the video

You can’t get the same quality from a videographer who just takes simple footage. It’s up to you what you’d prefer for your wedding.

8.) Can I see (or can you send me) a wedding video that is similar to what I want?

Wedding videos are important for the simple reason you can see if the videographer is good at compilation, or stellar at capturing a wedding’s unique personality. They don’t always go hand-in-hand. A videographer can be great at shooting time-lapses, but shoddy at shooting a wedding day.

You can also see if the videos reflect the particular wedding or the love story of the couples, or if they all appear to be the same film repeated. Again, it depends on your preference for your own wedding.

9.) Could you tell me about one of your favorite/worst weddings you shot?

This can show how much the videographer invests in weddings, generally. It can also give you a heads up on personality, and how well the videographer will mesh with you. It’s important, since you’ll be at one of your most stressed-out moments and they’ll be recording you every step of the way.

10.) How do you deal with disappointed wedding clients?

Even if there’s a contract, any discontent on either side needs to be addressed before the wedding. Finding out how well they deal with unhappy clients can aid you in making a decision.

We hope this top 10 list of questions for wedding videographers has been useful for you. To discuss filming or live streaming your wedding, email info@redshellproductions.co.uk or phone 0121 6677 898.

3 Reasons You Should Film Your School Production

A school production is unforgettable and timeless. Keeping not just the memories but the moments alive is a necessity, if you want to relive those golden times. The best way of doing that nowadays is by filming your school production. It gives you an opportunity to share and shine your schoolmates (along with yourself).

Letting Your Schoolmates Be Fantastic on Film

School is a time to embrace and enjoy. It’s one of the rare times for kids to show their skills, abilities and performance as well as starting their journey into the rest of their abilities. It’s the nicest start to a dramatic or insightful beginning of careers. Documenting these very important moments on film, on video, gives them their first edge. The first page, perhaps, in a fruitful online portfolio.

We understand not everyone is ideal on film. But most school performers have the confidence and performance knack to take them much further. By capturing their possibilities, you also capture the brilliance of their school life on video.

Hollywood Has Nothing on Innovation

The youngest, brightest and best are not found in Hollywood. They’re in your school- the next generation of creatives. They’re also the people who complete your school experience. Memorable people who you won’t forget, but can revisit anytime with a film of your school production. Having the possibility of access to your own film production from your school will add to the overall experience. You don’t have to be the next Spielberg to create unforgettable film memories. You just have to take the video production to your personal level. It’s never been easier to access or better for finding your voice and carrying it across.

Looking Back Will Actually Mean Something

Revisiting school days via film will remind you of some of the best moments of your school days. Most people, historically, haven’t had the opportunity of ‘literally reliving’ the great moments, like a school production. Doing a video of it makes sure your highest memories become a tangible and accessible way to see your school days as a full package.

There’s no reason why you shouldn’t have the nicest moments captured on film. Putting your school production on film will also give you enjoyment for years to come, for you- and your schoolmates. That’s not a bad way to express yourself.

Understandably, we can’t publish children to YouTube so we thought we’d show you one of our favourite productions we recently filmed

10 Professional Touches to Add to Your Live Stream

If you’re new to live streaming, there are a few considerations you have to make decisions on when you’re designing your next video. Postproduction isn’t really a choice when it’s live, which means you have to map out what you want and need before shooting. We’ve come up with a basic checklist to help sort out your live streaming priorities. Check them out here:

Using a commentator:

Having a voice (and/or a face) to capture your video’s atmosphere is one option for adding personality to a live stream. Please do keep in mind you need to have a quality audio setup for live streaming, as bad audio could disrupt the quality of your video. You might also want to do a few practice trials before doing your live version.

Intro-out video and its uses:

It’s the same as dipping your toe in the water and emerging slowly- you need an intro to ease your audience into your live stream and a gentle way to ease back out. Having short pieces to enter and exit the video make it not only more professional but easier to watch.

Advertising relevant products:

Can you think of something more irritating than an advert that has nothing to do with anything (and even might make your target audience uncomfy)? If you’re going to have adverts added to your video, make sure they’re relevant and tasteful. Bad ads could lead to a loss of audience.

Services during stream breaks:

This is where you can get bonus points from your target audience, by engaging them. Think of competitions, games, Q & A sessions or just simple group chats. You need to keep your audience involved for the entire video, not just the beginning.

Sending a feed to Youtube:

Creating a Youtube channel for your videos has never been so easy; it’s also easy to incorporate for live streaming and then syndication.

Sending a feed to a website:

Using either your own or a 3rd party website as an additional feed line for your live streaming gives your brand a stronger online identity and recognition.

Sending a feed to Facebook:

Facebook has proven itself as a social media icon, and one of the best ways to promote video services or products is using Facebook. It’s got the reputation and the movement to back up the popularity of online video, and is also known for making many films viral.

Using a chat box (like Google+ Hangout):

It’s old but it’s new, and the more Google+ tweaks the better it gets. Those who have left Facebook have emigrated to G+, for many reasons. Being able to not only live stream but partake in the streaming experience via Google+ Hangout is an upcoming trend. You can add over 10 people at a time. It’s a great platform for video business and will only get better.

What is adaptive streaming?

Adaptive streaming is pretty much live streaming that ‘adapts’ to different connection speeds, without the user feeling a huge lag. It allows many different people on various devices to live stream without losing the video’s integrity. Having adaptive streaming is a clear advantage.

What about HD streaming?

HD live streaming is a bit awkward, but for those with the capabilities the quality is much better. It’s still quite limited, but the availability is getting better and the format itself is a good artistic choice.

We hope these 10 tips for adding professional touches to film have helped you, and of course we’d love to hear if you have any extras. For more information about live streaming your event, please call us on 0121 6677 898 or email info@redshellproductions.co.uk and we’d be happy to answer any questions you may have

If you’re a Backgammon fan, or want to learn more about this great sport, this is one event you won’t want to miss.

Broadcast your event live to your website

Backgammon is one of the oldest two player board games and relies on both luck of dice and the strategy and tactic of the player. This makes an exciting combination for a weekends entertainment. Red Shell Productions recently visited Brown’s court rooms in Covent Garden to film and the London Backgammon Open; broadcasting the UK’s national professional back gammon tournament and open back gammon tournament.

Filming the Backgammon London Open tournament

  • Red Shell Productions Broadcast your event liveFilming the Backgammon London Open tournament saw the professionals tournament entering 64 players with an entry fee of £200 per seat whilst the open tournament entered a massive 128 players.

Red Shell Productions broadcast the event live and presented statistics at the end of the event. This is both encouraging as an event organiser and as well as valuable as you know where in the world your key audience are. During the UK’s national professional’s back gammon tournament, naturally, most viewers logged in during the professionals and statics revealed over 500 unique viewers logging in from over 20 different countries. Data collected naturally demonstrated the highest number of viewers logged in during the final game. We also know that viewers watched for an average of 20 minutes – the average time of a back gammon tournament.

Create a brand community

Having these statistics to hand helps organisations assess the brand exposure value to their organisation. During the London Backgammon Open, organisers increased their audience from 200 attending the venue over the course of the weekend to over 700 individuals interacting with the games in the same time space; a three and a half fold increase in audience!

Create a buzz around the event by sharing content before, during and after

With social media at the hands of any one with a phone connecting to the internet, creating a buzz before, during and after the event has now become a lot more accessible. Advertising by email and social media was essential to seeing the attendance figures for the London Backgammon Open. During the event, social media enthusiasts were on hand to take photographs of the games underway and tweet and share the atmosphere and fun vibes this enticing game created.

Set agenda

Ensuring a set agenda was in place beforehand meant viewers tuning in always kept up to date. Some of the key points included:
Who will be presenting?
Who is going to guest present with the presenter?
When will regular updates of other games be announced?
Make sure presenters are explaining the game along the way. This will encourage individuals new to the game to carry on watching and hopefully gain an interest in the game themselves

Congratulations!

Once again, a huge congratulations to the winners of the weekend, Raj and Fabio. For more information on the winners, how to get involved next year, rules etc. visit http://londonopenbg.weebly.com/

Redshell Featured on Plan Your Perfect Wedding Website

Red Shell Productions is a video production company based in Birmingham, specialising in live event streaming. Red Shell Productions was born when its two creative minded owners Roxy and Josh married in 2011. Family from both sides couldn’t attend due to living abroad and illness.

A creative solution

With just weeks to go to the big day and little sign of 10’s of thousands of pounds they’d have needed to fly all the family out, Roxy and Josh concluded the solution was to stream the wedding live over the internet. This meant all friends and family could attend regardless of where they were in the world. So long as virtual attendees had an internet connection, they could tune in and watch the big event.

An exciting response
